The Reasoning of the Chosen

A dream…

Suddenly, it was time.
People gathered in large numbers, milling around,
All waiting to see if their name would be called next.
Then they would be ushered into the dining room to eat.
All waited expectantly, wondering.
Names were called; big important names.
And one by one, these VIP’s were ushered in,
Where a wingless angel stood nearby
Taking their order for pizza,
And placing each person around the tables,
Each thinking it was according to their rank.
The others outside, still waiting,
Could see all that went on inside,
(Despite the huge crowds.)
Each name that was called, they would justify.
Yes, we can understand why he was chosen,
For he was the owner of that company.
And that guy over there, hey, wasn’t he the town mayor?
Then my old pastor’s name was called.
I watched as he entered and took his place,
(He was in line not far from me.)
He went in, placed his order, and ate beside the others.
A few other people were called and seated,
Then my name was called.
Whispers of shock reverberated around the tables,
Why her? Who was she? She was a nobody!
Why is she joining us here at our table?
They could not understand the reasoning of the chosen,
Nor could I. For yes, they were right, I was no one.
I placed no order, but received a pizza just the same.
It was a large green-peppered pizza, with pepperoni.
I eyed it, mouth watering, yet hesitating.
(I liked pepperoni and green peppers, but could not eat them while on earth.)
But somehow I knew, that this time it was O.K. for me to eat it,
And that I would not get sick from them.
So I ate small bites, marveling at how good it tasted, how perfect.
And each time I took out a bite, it was somehow replaced,
Leaving me with a whole pizza again.
My old pastor and I, we looked at each other and smiled.
But the others around us, continued to argue among themselves,
Trying to figure out why someone as lowly and unimportant like me,
Would be seated next to them.
Some made sense to them, like why the VIP’s were there.
But no one could figure out why little nobodies like me were among them.
We all looked around the room, searching, wondering, and eating.
Then in a flash, I knew. Everyone at our table, had one thing in common.
We had listened to my old pastor’s sermons, and had brought them into our heart.
That was the link among us; every single one.
We were all there, deemed important, not because of title or position,
But because we took this old pastor’s shared words of Jesus,
And allowed them to live within us.

I woke up then, and the song “The Invitation” by Steven Curtis Chapman,
Was playing in the back of my mind.

Matthew 22:1-14, KJV. “And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Cotton Balls

Cotton Balls

I used to question God, as to why He would give me a child like my oldest son. After all, I figured, how can he be of any use to God or anyone, with his hyper, anti-social, extreme ADHD behavior?

But then one day, when he was about seven years old, right before he was supposed to get on the bus to go to his special school for the handicapped, (this was before I decided to home school him,) he decided he just HAD to have cotton balls. He put up a huge fuss and refused to get on the bus, (I couldn’t even carry him onto the bus because of his kicking and screaming,) until he had some cotton balls.

I began to cry, and wondered if he had really lost it this time, and had gone completely crazy. But finally, I found him some cotton balls, and he walked onto the bus.

When he came home from school that day, I asked him (in one of his odd moments of calm,) why he had wanted the cotton balls. He told me he wanted to give them to his friend on the bus. (I figured he really WAS crazy then.) But something inside me made me ask why. “I wanted to show Steven what clouds were like.”

I frowned. “But son,” I said, using my ‘you-should-know-better’ voice, “you didn’t need cotton balls to show him that. He can just look up into the sky to see what they’re like.”

But he gave me an exasperated sigh. “No mom, he can’t,” he said. “Steven’s blind.”

And from that moment on, despite what all the experts were telling me, I knew that God must have a plan for him in this world.

This son is now in his late twenties and works for a major industrial company, and it has been many many years now since he has had those issues of extreme ADHD or anti-social behavior. Back then, the expert doctors called it ‘oppositional defiance disorder’, but in his case it turned out to be demons. Once they were cast out of him, (repeatedly,) his behavior returned to normal within a matter of weeks.

He wasn’t always a follower of Jesus, despite being home schooled. It wasn’t until he was in his late teens before he decided to follow Him.

It happened while watching the movie “Fireproof” with us. I looked over at him and seen that he was crying. He asked me, “don’t you see the angel with its hand upon my shoulders? He has just told me that I am on their side now.”

Hallelujah! The Lord had answered my prayer, and he had finally become a believer. And sure enough, from that moment on, his primary focus has been on what God wants him to do.

This is the son that can see into the unseen world through reflections, such as seeing demons or angels through a pane of glass or in a puddle of water. He has also been able to audibly hear them. This insight into the unseen world came about after he gave his live over to Jesus.

He has been feeling lonely. God has put the desire to have a family in him, so he is currently searching for his bride, and would love your prayers that he finds the one that the Lord wants him to have. So far the Lord has revealed to him that she will be a ‘ginger’, but hasn’t said much else about her.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and pray for my son.

May the Lord bless you and keep you in the palm of His hands,

A Miracle: The Angel and Their First Customer

In an effort to bring in more money into the household, my husband started up a business. Him and his partners did their research, and knew that there was a great need for the product that they had created. So they were quite confused when, after almost two years, they had not even had one customer. They met and discussed closing the business.

That night, my youngest was woken up in the middle of the night by a very bright light. It shined out from the corner of his room. It waited, and when my son refused to get up, it shined brighter. (He was very tired.) Finally my son realized that it wouldn’t go away and let him sleep, till he got up and gave it some attention.

When he arose, the light dimmed, and he could see an angel of the Lord standing before him.

The angel told him, that the reason his father’s business had no customers, is that there was a pagan man praying to his god to bless this company (he was a friend of one of the partners,) and this man’s prayers were actually a curse upon the company. The angel told him he was to tell us to bind up this man’s prayers, and break their bonds and cords, and claim that they are as nothing.

The angel then said that the company could grow and be a help to us and one day even help out the body of Christ, if we prayed for it. The angel said it needed the prayers of his mother, to help it succeed. (At the time, my husband was doing this on his own, and hadn’t really talked to me about it.) The angel further said that when someone would ask about why the company was so successful, we were to say it was because of Jesus.

My husband was amazed at the message, for he had not told his youngest anything about the company’s problem.

We talked about it and came to an agreement. Then we bound up this man’s prayers in the name of Jesus.

Three days later they got their first customer!

Today, the company is growing, and we give all credit for its success to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hanukkah is a time to remember the miracles on one’s life. This was one of them.

May you be blessed with miracles in your journey with the Lord,
