A Miracle: I Survived The Bite Of A Black Widow Spider

(FYI: Nothing in this missive is to be taken as medical advice. If you are in need, go to the Great Physician.)

It was in the middle of the summer, and the temperature had soared to over a hundred degrees every day for the past three weeks. Our puny little air conditioner could never seem to keep up with the heat. I was getting sick of it. Literally.

So when my husband told me that it was going to be another blistering day, I decided to take my paperwork and go downstairs to sit by the air conditioner.

But the Holy Spirit told me no. “Stay up here and work,” He told me.

But I became angry at the command. “No!” I said in response. “I am sick and tired of being so hot all the time! I’m getting a break from it!”

So I took my work and went downstairs.

It was much cooler there. I sat at the table (this was the school table where we did our work during the week,) and felt relieved as I felt the cool breeze on my skin.

Then I felt something crawling on my leg. I thought it must be the fly that had been in the kitchen earlier. I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to look and make sure, but once again, I foolishly ignored Him. Without looking, I used my other foot to brush it off my leg.

That night, began one of the worst nights of my life. My heart pounded like it was trying to escape my chest, and every time I tried to lay down, I felt my lungs fill up with fluid till I had to sit up just to breathe. My head ached, and I felt almost like I had a severe case of the flu.

For three days, I was intensely ill.

I went back to the Lord and begged for His forgiveness, and asked Him to have mercy on me and help me. I push prayed until I heard Him give me directions. He told me not to go to the hospital, but instead was to take a certain number of vitamin C’s, B vitamins, and calcium pills, and to repeat this as He instructed.

I told Him that I could not, for I had run out of calcium pills several days ago, and was waiting for the shipment to arrive any day.

“Go look,” He said.

“It’s not there, Lord! I’d just be wasting my energy!”

“GO LOOK!”, He insisted.

Sigh. I knew my God was not going to give up. So I said “Fine! I’ll go look!”

It wasn’t where I usually keep it; it was sitting right at eye level, in front of the other bottles of assorted vitamins.

I was amazed. I figured that my husband had probably seen the shipment, and had begun unpacking it for me, but got called away before he could put them all away.

I thanked God, took the medicine, and slowly started to feel better.

A week later, and I was still suffering from the strange symptoms. So I went to the doctor.

He listened to my symptoms, looked at my swollen leg, (It looked like I had a half a grapefruit hiding under the skin,) and promptly diagnosed me with a black widow spider bite. He said I was fortunate that I had survived the poison, but that there was little he could do for me now, as the worst of the danger had passed. (The anti-venom was contraindicated this late in the game.)

So I went home, and researched on line what one could do for a black widow spider bite. To my amazement, one web site suggested taking large doses of vitamin C, B vitamins, and calcium, every few hours.

I thanked my husband for putting the bottle of calcium in my closet, but he said he didn’t do it. “Maybe one of the boys did it,” he replied. I figured he must be right.

But a week later, I got a notice in my email from the supplier of those calcium pills. “We are sorry to inform you, that the product you ordered has not yet shipped out, because it is still on back order…”

I was shocked. I went back into the closet to stare at the bottle of calcium pills. They looked no different from what I usually use. They were the same brand and dose as I usually keep on hand. But I took them and hugged them to my chest, and thanked God for sending them to me. When they ran out, I wanted to keep the bottle to remember it by, but the Lord said it might become an idol and that I was not to keep it, so I threw it out.

The symptoms lasted for close to a year. It is not something I would wish upon another living thing, ever.

This last night of Hanukkah, we remember what the Lord Jesus has done for us. This was one of them.

May you be blessed abundantly by the Lord God of all,

The Football Was The Truth

Before I share the conclusion from my last post, I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to comment on the blog and encourage me. You did far more than that. You are answered prayer!

For several years now, ever since moving out into the country, I have been asking the Lord Jesus to send me some  real friends. They tend to me more scarce out here in the middle of nowhere, and my old friends from the city cut off communications, stating that I now lived too far from them to get together with them.

To be honest, I had kind of given up on the prayer being answered here on earth, and began asking the Lord to have friends one day in heaven.

But after the responses I received (over 20 of them!) I broke down crying before my God, and thanking Him for the true friendships that He had just given me.

Thank You Jesus, for each and every one of you! May God bless you greatly!

And now for the conclusion of last week’s post…

(Continued from: https://dreamsofdunamis.wordpress.com/2016/11/12/the-football-field/)

So I asked the Lord what the football represented. “A treasure,” He replied. “Something very precious.” It took me a few days, before I realized what He meant. The football, was the Truth.

Living in a family where others can see into the unseen world, has given me little pieces of truth, that many in Christendom have not seen. Oh, had I known then what I know now, my life would have been so very different! I would not have wasted so much time “boxing as one beating the air” (1 Corinthians 9:26).

He also let me know, where I was at this point in my life in that dream. I had just stepped out of the cold and into the bus depot.

He pointed out to me, that I had stopped posting on the blog, and was in fact thinking of giving it up entirely.
I didn’t bother denying it; He was right.

He let me know who the people were in the bleachers, watching me. They were my friends and family. This made it harder for me to just walk away, for it’s easier to disappoint a stranger, than those you know and love.

“You really think I can play football for You, Lord?”

The thought amazed me, for I do not think myself much of a football player. I dislike fame or notoriety. I have had my taste of fame early on in my life, and I did not like it. In this dream I was obviously the quarterback, and such a prominent position in the game being given to me seemed totally out of place and unwarranted besides.

“I gave you the ball, didn’t I?”

Sigh.

Then the Lord reminded me of that dream I had recently, about the believers who kept going after a nuclear bomb went off. (https://dreamsofdunamis.wordpress.com/2016/04/18/jesus-could-save-them-from-the-radiation/) They decided to keep serving God for as long as they could. And God blessed them with health.

So why could I not try to do the same?

He then revealed to me, that there were courts in heaven filled with people watching me, and wanting me to succeed in playing the football. This also made it harder for me to stay in the bus depot. When I get up to heaven, I do not want to feel shame at having failed my God. I want to be able to face Noah, Moses, Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, Junia, Ruth, and all those written of in the books of heaven, knowing that I had done the best I could with what was given to me.

I knew then that I had to get back onto the playing field.

So I ask you, dear reader, are you doing all you have been called to do by the Lord, or have you given up like me? Heaven is watching us to see what we will do next…

Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

2 Timothy 4:7-9 ESV “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. Do your best to come to me soon.”

Acts 20:24 ESV “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

Philippians 3:13-14 ESV “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus Could Save Them From the Radiation

A dream…

The dream began with a nuclear bomb of some kind suddenly going off. The bomb was many miles away from where I, (a young female adult believer,) stood. The area was very flat, with no hills around it to hide the city from view, so I could see the mushroom cloud quite clearly. The earth shook and trembled under its force, and I had to steady myself lest I fall. This explosion was not the white fluffy mushroom ones I had seen before on television; it was black and the mushroom part was deeply red colored instead. The sky was dark, though from the time of day or night or the bomb itself, I could not tell for sure. (I sensed it was night time.) The earth roiled and changed colors like smoldering coals in a fire, first charring everything black, then suddenly blowing back to life with red hot fire, before returning to the black color once again. This red fire rippled outwards like a pebble thrown in a pond, till the end of its reach left spots of black char among the untouched ground.

Then from among this vision, came a person, walking away from the bomb blast. She was followed by others, trickling in, trying to get as far away from the blast as they could. Some dropped and died as they walked, while the survivors kept walking, wanting so very badly to get as far away from it as possible, despite knowing that for them it was probably too late and that they also would end up dead.

God’s people reacted totally different to the devastation; they had the attitude that as they were not dead yet, they would keep serving and following God till they no longer could. Those Christians whose faith was weak, succumbed to the radiation and died. Those who believed that Jesus could save them from the radiation survived with no side effects from the radiation. It was as if they were somehow immune to it.

These Christian survivors tried to witness to others, and the way these believers remained in good health was a visual reminder of a miracle that could be theirs too, if they came to Christ. There were a few who turned to Christ and were saved, (from both the radiation and from hell,) but most turned away from the good news and died, for they simply could not bring themselves to believe in such a miracle or in the God that gave it to His children.

My heart ached to see those people die without Christ.

Farther out from the blast, people were panicking, and running to the stores to buy provisions. I found myself outside a Target store, looking at the long lines of people waiting for their turn to get in. Target employees were trying to keep the people in line and orderly. Many people were buying odd stuff, like masses of paper towels, that would not be of much use to them over the long haul. You could only buy as much as you could carry, for cars and other motorized transportation was not working. Walking was the only way to get from place to place.

You could tell who were the real believers and who were not, simply by the look on their faces. Those who were believers in Jesus Christ, had positive thoughts, and this was reflected outwards towards others. There was a peace about them that stood out from all the chaos around them. Those who were not believers were in shock, and walked around as if in a daze, unable to think clearly.

I was not able to tell how the people buying the stuff payed for it, or if it was simply given away to them. You still had to wait in long lines to check out your items, but even the watches on peoples arms had stopped working, so I did not know what other kind of mechanics had been left in working condition, to charge the people.

I woke up and felt both sad and hopeful over the dream. Sad that such a thing had happened, yet hopeful having witnessed the believers being immune to the radiation. I wondered if this was a warning dream, and I wondered if it might actually happen one day. I wondered if in the future I would get another dream to confirm this one.

I then went back to sleep.
